Karen P. James, LMT, MMP, BCTMB, S4OM, NACMedical Massage Practitioner
Karen James is a nationally recognized LMT with over eighteen years of therapeutic massage experience. After graduating from Seattle Massage School/Ashmeade College in 1997, Karen soon developed a passion for providing Oncology Massage to cancer patients and survivors, a highly specialized field. Karen is a member of the Society for Oncology Massage (S4OM).
Karen holds a Masters in Medical Massage at a Level 10, and is now a mentor in Oncology Massage with the highest level of advanced training, doing presentations throughout the state and offering her skills as a volunteer at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
She is a resource for the media, having promoted medical massage on King 5 Health Link, Channel 4 News, and to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Karen is on the boards of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), NCBTMB, and S4OM. She is also an active member of the Washington State Massage Board and participates in government relations yearly with the AMTA and Massage Awareness Days (MAD) Committees.
Patients come from well beyond the Seattle and Snohomish areas to receive deep tissue massage, medical massage, intra-oral massage, Thai massage, and manual lymphatic drainage.
Karen likes to participate in activities such as roller-skating, chess, dancing, golfing, swimming, skiing and other family fun. She was assistant coach for the Edmonds Community College women’s volleyball team. Prior to becoming a massage practitioner, she attended Cornish Art Institute and Western Washington University.
